Rainfall-Runoff Models with Fractional Derivatives Applied to Kurau River Basin, Perak, Malaysia

Kurau River Basin (KRB), which covers an area of 322 km2 and is the main drainage artery pouring into Bukit Merah Reservoir (BMR), located in Perak State Malaysia. The study rainfall-runoff processes KRB important because BMR plays a vital role rice production, flood control, ecosystems, tourism region. This proposes new approach to modeling based on fractional calculus. A dataset daily rainfall streamflow has been acquired. Then, standard linear autoregressive with exogenous input (ARX) model identified from sense least square error. We consider ARX as discretized differential equation orders. Such derivatives versatile represent hysteresis, intrinsically linked real runoff tropical catchment basins like KRB.
